CHAPTER 1
Okonkwo is a short tempered, violent, and mean person. He was a really good wrestler. He hates his father because he was lazy and he didn't work hard at stuff that he did.

CHAPTER 2
While going to war, Okonkwo has brought home 5 human heads. They get offered a virgin and a boy so the conflict is resolved. Okonkwo is really strict. He rules his house with an iron fist.

CHAPTER 3
Okonkwo goes to the oracle to see why his crops aren't growing. The oracle tells him that he's lazy. He gets his first crop seeds from someone so he still has to repay him.

CHAPTER 4
The boy they got went to Okonkwo's family. He seems like an outcast at first but then he starts to fit in. Okonkwo makes people feel bad anytime he can. During the sacred week, Okonkwo hits his wife and he has to pay a fine for it.

CHAPTER 5
To honor the gods for their crops they have a big feast. At the feast Okonkwo's second wife accidentally makes fun of his man hood. He goes and gets his gun and he actually shoots at her.

CHAPTER 6
Everyone gets ready for the big wrestling match. It is like our big sporting events. Okofo wins the match.

CHAPTER 7
Ikemefuna starts to become part of the family and is like an older brother. The locust come and everyone gets excited. Everyone goes out and collects them for food.

CHAPTER 8
Okonkwo is told that Ikemefuna has to die. Okonkwo ends up killing him because he didn't want to look weak. No one liked what Okonkwo did.

CHAPTER 9
Ekwefi has 10 children but only one lives. The child's name is Enzima. Okonkwo makes medicine for her and is told by the oracle to go home.

CHAPTER 10
During ceremonies the men treat women like outsiders. The 9 starting villages are represented by ancestral spirits. If Okonkwo hits his wife again he will get his genitals cut off.

CHAPTER 11
Achebe tells a story about a turtle that lies and does whatever he can to get what he wanted. With this story he was trying to show the background of his culture.

CHAPTER 12
Okonkwo is really worried and the oracle isn't there so he is forced to wait. He gets a big goat to get ready for the feast. As the come in, Okonkwo starts to relax when everything seems to be going well.Screen_shot_2012-03-28_at_9.30.16_AM.png

CHAPTER 13
The towns have a funeral for the great warrior Ezeudu. While the guys are beating on their drums, Okonkwo's gun goes off and kills Ezeudu's son. Okonkwo gets kicked out of the clan and he takes his family with him. They go to his wife's older village to live.

CHAPTER 14
The people help Okonkwo build new huts. They also lend him yam seeds. Okonkwo isn't able to be the leader of the clan anymore and he gets really frustrated.

CHAPTER 15
Okonkwo doesn't have any friends in distant clans. They all just ignore him after what he did. Obierika tells Abame to not kill anyone.

CHAPTER 16
Obierika tells Okonkwo that he saw Nwaye with the Christian Missionaries. The missionaries cause a stir in Mbanta. Okonkwo thinks they are crazy.

CHAPTER 17
The elders give the missionaries land in the Evil Forest. They build a church on the land. The people start to convert and Okonkwo starts to flip out on Nwaye.

CHAPTER 18
The efulefu are the people in the town with titles. The outcasts don't get killed. They are called the osu. They get treated like they're not people.

CHAPTER 19
Okonkwo doesn't feel that that his exile was needed. He gives money to Obierika to build him two huts. He wants them to be where his old huts used to be.

CHAPTER 20
Okonkwo thinks he is going to come back with confidence. He talks about Ezinima how she changed from an ailing girl, into a buoyant maiden. Then talks about how the white man changed their customs, and no one likes it.

CHAPTER 21
The government is starts to do better. More people are turning over to christians every day. Okonkwo's return didn't go like he planed. He wanted to have a big feast and marry off his daughter but that didn't happen.

CHAPTER 22
Mr. Brown believed that black was evil and he saw things black and white. Mr. Smith thought enoch commits an offense again Ibo religious customs by Mr.Brown leaving. The egwugwu respond to such a crime by destroying the church.

CHAPTER 23
Everything was going back to the way it was before. The district commissioner tricked the leaders of umuofia by asking them to meet with him and have people arrest them. The district commissioner also puts them in jail and if they wanted out, they had to pay two hundred fifty cowries.

CHAPTER 24
When the leaders return to the village, no one welcomes them because they had heavy looks. Okonkwo sees the greatest threat to Umuofia is Egonwanne and Okonkwo plans to get revenge on them. Okika starts talking to the group, he says he wants to get rid of the evil from the root. But when the court messengers arrive, Okonkwo goes and kills one of them.

CHAPTER 25
Okonkwo hangs himself because he killed another person and he was afraid again. Obierika wanted the District Commissioner to bury Okonkwo's body because she couldn't. She couldn't because if another clansmen touched a dead clansman body, the evil spirits would join them.
